Exporting Data
From SharedTree Wiki
Exporting data is the process you use to extract data from your family tree into an industry-standard GEDCOM format.
[edit]
Why you need to export
SharedTree is the ultimate destination for accurately compiled genealogical data. However, there are still several reasons that you may consider exporting data. Included are:
- creating a personal backup file
- sending data to TempleReady
- creating charts in an external program
- using an offline application such as PAF
[edit]
How to export data
- Choose one of your ancestors
- Click on Export from the top menu
- Choose the options
- Ancestors: the number of generations back (up) to export
- Export siblings: should you include your ancestors siblings
- Descendents: the number of generations forward (down) to export
- Click Download and save the file to your computer
Currently the export file is a GEDCOM 5.5 UNICODE format. Other formats may become available in the future.
